AWARDS, HONORS AND WSU GRANTS
Andi Bannister, professor, criminal justice, and director, Regional Community Policing Institute, procured a grant for $600,500 from the U.S. Department of Justice to support the institute鈥檚 operations.
Pat Campbell, executive administrative assistant to WSU President Don Beggs, has received the Laura Cross Distinguished Service Award from the WSU Alumni Association.
Timothy Quigley, associate professor, physician assistant, has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Nicole Rogers, assistant professor, gerontology, procured external funding in the amount of $10,000 from the Hygienic Corporation to support research on physical activity and aging.
Scott Wituk, director of the Center for Community Support and Research, has been selected to advise the Center for Disease Control's National Leadership Committee for Primary Prevention of Intimate Partner Violence.
PRESENTATIONS AND PUBLICATIONS
Mara Alagic, associate professor, College of Education, was the first guest editor for the special issue of the Mathematics and Art Journal (Volume 3, Issue 3, 2009), published by Taylor & Francis in fall 2009. Special issue is titled 鈥淢athematics Education: Arts in the Mathematics Classroom.鈥�
H. Edward Flentje, professor, public administration, has published the book 鈥淜ansas Politics and Government: The Clash of Political Cultures,鈥� which he co-authored with Kansas State University professor Joe Aistrup.

Susan Parsons, assistant professor, nursing, was invited to present a Roundtable Discussion at the 2009 Summit Motivating Health 鈥� Kansans Leadership Summit on Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention in Topeka on Dec. 2. The dialogue included evidence-based research linking oral disease with chronic disease and practical options for reducing oral disease.
Jay M. Price, associate professor and director, public history, has published 鈥湷扇送诽踱�檚 Lebanese Heritage,鈥� which he co-authored with Matthew Namee and Victoria Foth Sherry.

IN MEMORIAM
Brett Anderson, 24, athletic trainer, WSU and Via Christi, died Dec. 19 in Iowa, his home state. He is survived by his mother, Cathy (Randy) Simon of Winterset, Iowa; his father, Roger (Cindy) Anderson of Van Meter, Iowa; and his grandparents, Susan and Ken Anderson of Bloomington, Minn.
Lily Anna Angle, 87, retired, Ablah Library, died Jan. 10 in Augusta. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Kay McCollom (Mark); her granddaughter, Rachelle Meinecke (Jason); and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Julianna, all of Augusta. Memorials can be made to the Kansas Author's Club.
