WSU alum wins contest to appear with rock band Weezer

Jan 7, 2011 鈥� By WSU News Services 鈥� WSU alum Matt Gerry, a music educator in Salina, Kan., learned this week that a video of his students won a contest sponsored by the rock band Weezer. For his prize, Gerry is going to Chicago this weekend to see Weezer play live.

The recent deaths of Glen Dey, Wallace M. Dunn, Gary G. Thompson and John Bart Sevart also are noted.

Lisa Bennett graduated with a master's in communication sciences and disorders in December. She has had a problem with stuttering since she was 4 and hopes that her experiences will help her relate to others with similar problems.

The prestigious award is given to one male high school or college student in the United States who competes in the sport of bowling. The last time someone from Kansas received the award was 1995.

$44,000 Barton Scholarship goes to Newton senior

Dec 17, 2010 鈥� By WSU News Services 鈥� Jessica Crumrine, a senior at Newton High School in Newton, Kan., is the winner of 成人头条's 2011-2012 Clay Barton Scholarship in Business. She will receive $11,000 a year for four years to attend WSU as a marketing major in the W. Frank Barton School of Business.

Kansas BEST robotics teams qualify for nationals
