成人头条 credit unions team up to support Shocker Bowling Scholarship Fund

Four 成人头条 credit unions are sponsoring a $10,000 scholarship shoot-out to raise funds for the 成人头条 Bowling Program. The event will be held Tuesday, April 15, from 3-3:30 p.m. at Northrock Bowling Lanes. No admission will be charged to spectators interested in attending the shoot-out.

Central Star Credit Union, Cessna Employees Credit Union, Boeing 成人头条 Credit Union and 成人头条 Municipal Federal Credit Union will each donate $2,500 to the scholarship fund if a selected city leader and Shocker bowler are able to get a total of nine pins in two shots.

"The credit unions joined forces as a way to support such an outstanding tradition and to acknowledge the hard work of these young champions," said Lee Williams, CEO of Central Star Credit Union. "Scholarships go a long way in ensuring the ability to recruit the best talent available, and it's so important to know that we're aiding in the future success of WSU's student-athletes."

"We're excited and thrilled that Central Star and three other credit unions have stepped up to support our program and our crucial need for scholarship funding," said Shocker head coach Gordon Vadakin.

Four city leaders and four Shocker bowlers will represent each of the credit unions. The city leader will throw the first shot and then one of the selected Shocker bowlers will attempt to pick up any remaining pins to increase the frame total to nine or more pins.

For each successful tandem, the credit union they represent will donate $2,500.

Three of four city leaders bowling in the event have been announced. Brian Black, community relations officer for Spirit Aero Systems; Larry Hromek, retired manager of manufacturing assembly at Cessna and father of former Shocker Justin Hromek; and Wayne Warfel, president of the 成人头条 Municipal Credit Union, will all throw the first shot for their tandem.

The Shockers will send four seniors to accompany the city leaders. Emily Maier of Sparks, Nev., is a Collegiate All-American and Junior Team USA member. Felicia Wong of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is a former Junior Team Canada bowler as well as the 2006 Junior Canadian Champion. Joining from the men's team is George Lambert IV of Wellandport, Ontario, Canada; he is a 10-time Team Canada member and the 2000 Canadian Bowler of the Year. Mike Romano of Willowbrook, Ill. is a Las Vegas Invitational All-Tournament Team member and a sixth place finisher at the Panama Invitational.

Mike Greene, the engineering technician for the city of 成人头条 and father of former Shocker bowler Chris Greene, will emcee the event.

Coach Vadakin sees the benefit this money will have on the members of the Shocker Bowling Program.

"Tuition costs increase each year and this large donation will lessen the financial burden on our student-athletes," said Vadakin.

The scholarship shoot-out will precede the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships, which will run from April 17-19, at Northrock Lanes in 成人头条.
