Summer improvements include new streets, crosswalks and signs
Because Perimeter Road is no longer the outer edge of east campus, its name will change to Mid Campus Drive in some places and WuShock Drive in others.
The rapid expansion of campus facilities and a number of new streets will result in 14 new poles, and 55 signs at 26 campus locations before fall semester classes begin in mid-August.
Among the campus improvements will be three new crosswalks and increased visibility at all pedestrian crosswalks, which will be repainted with reflectorized paint to help them stand out.
The diagonal crosswalks from the parking lots leading to Ahlberg Hall will be removed and replaced with perpendicular crosswalks and curb cuts.
A crosswalk with curb cuts will be installed between Devlin and Hubbard halls to increase safety there.
Crosswalk signs in each direction will be installed at all crosswalks. In addition, some shrubs are being removed, along with trimming some tree limbs to improve sight lines for pedestrians and motorists.
One change that will affect traffic flow will be a directional change in and out of the parking lot west of the University Police building.
The Shuttle Bus loop in and around campus will continue with the same stops.
The street names and new signage will benefit visitors to campus and personnel who come to campus to assist with medical situations or other emergencies.
