The 成人头条 Rowing Team won its first gold medal in men's doubles at the American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championship Sunday, May 23.
Sophomore Malcolm Johnson and junior Allen Strickler took home the gold in the men's doubles, and juniors Stephanie Lillie and Erica Kuhlman won the bronze medal in women's doubles.
The men's double's team placed first in the time trial and first in their heat on Saturday, May 22, allowing them to race in the finals on Sunday. The women's double's team placed third in the time trial and were not allowed to race in the finals.
All Americans were also chosen from WSU. Senior Peter Fast and junior Chelsea Chaves were nominated for the Regional All American team. They were chosen based on their scores, records and having rowed in a varsity boat.
Johnson, Fast, Sarah Meier, Isabel Villaneda van Vloten, Brittany Norris, Ryan Hollingshead, Lisa Burns and Stephanie Lillie from WSU were chosen as Academic All Americans based on having a 3.5 GPA or higher and obtaining junior standing by fall 2010.
WSU also nominated four freshman All Americans, who will be selected May 28.
WSU Rowing has attended ACRA nationals since its start in 2008.
