'Soul of a People: Writing America's Story' showing at WSU

The 成人头条 Library Associates will present "Soul of a People: Writing America's Story," with author and co-producer David A. Taylor at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, in Special Collections, lower level, Ablah Library.

Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.

"Soul of a People" is the story of the most chaotic and influential publishing venture in history.

In the Great Depression, while hundreds of thousands survived by wielding picks and shovels on WPA (Work Progress Administration) jobs, a smaller cadre used pen, paper and the spirit of invention. Their task: to create America's first-ever self-portrait in the WPA guides. This documentary offers a compelling window into that experience.

Taylor will facilitate discussion about the film. He is an award-winning writer and documentary maker whose work deals with science, history and culture. He teaches at the Writer's Center in Bethesda, Md.
