This year's total is second to FY06 in which nearly $31.5 million was received.
"We remain deeply grateful to Doris and Ralph Klose, David Jackman, Doris and Albert Nelson and Opal Gaines, whose legacy will leave valuable and infinite impressions on the lives of today's students, faculty and staff and those of future Shockers," said King.
The Kloses' gift provides substantially more scholarship funds for future teachers of math and science. The Nelsons' unrestricted bequest to the Foundation will aid in the completion of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry building.
Jackman's support will provide for significant enhancements in the department of anthropology, and the Gaines estate is dedicated to general and athletic scholarships.
The total market value of the WSU Foundation's endowment is approximately $200 million. More than $17 million of the nearly $30 million in outright giving was placed in the endowment.
"We now start fresh, enthusiastically embracing new goals," said King, "but relishing the success of this past year."
