Juan Melendez, who spent 18 years on death row in a Florida prison, will share his remarkable story 鈥淟ife on Death Row 鈥 Juan Melendez: Innocent鈥 at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the CAC Theater at 成人头条. Admission is free.
Melendez also will share his story at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, in the Rhatigan Student Center fireplace lounge.
His presentations are sponsored by the Criminal Justice Student Association at 成人头条 State.
In 1974, Melendez was arrested in Florida for an armed robbery and spent more than six years in prison. He then returned to life as a migrant farmer until FBI agents arrested him in Pennsylvania at age 33.
He was charged for the 1983 Florida murder of Delbert 鈥淢r. Del鈥 Baker in his Auburndale beauty salon, a man Melendez claims to have never met.
He was released from prison on Jan. 3, 2002, making him the 97th death row inmate in the United States to be exonerated and released from prison since 1973.
