The first solo exhibition featuring the work of Katherine Allys Perez will be displayed at the Rhatigan Student Center Gallery at 成人头条 Monday, Feb. 7, through Friday, Feb. 18.
Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Admission is free.
A reception is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in the gallery.
The exhibition 鈥淚 am not lost.鈥 contains a series of oil paintings, each abstract mindscapes created from several tableaus of animal bones. The work creates immersive mindscapes that speak to the viewer on subjects of life cycles, emotional transitions and observation.
Perez received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting at the University of Kansas and is pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 in art history at 成人头条 State.
A native of 成人头条, Perez plans to pursue a master鈥檚 program in the future. This is the artist鈥檚 third show, with the first being 鈥淓ssential not Incidental鈥 at the Pearl Gallery in Kansas City, Kan., in March 2010, as well as an inclusion in the 2010 Student Juried Exhibition at the Spencer Museum in Lawrence, Kan.
