Department of Energy to look at WSU assistant prof's research

Vinod Namboodiri, assistant professor of electrical engineering and computer science at 成人头条, will have some of his research work presented to the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu.

Namboodiri鈥檚 research project focuses on home area wireless networks for smart energy metering in the home.

His work was recently noticed by a member of the Department of Energy, spurring on the decision for it to be presented to Chu, one of the top members of Cabinet.

鈥淚t is considered a tremendous honor to have research work noticed on such a national scale and speaks volumes on the research being carried out by the faculty and students at WSU,鈥 said Ward Jewell, professor of electrical engineering and computer science at 成人头条 State.

Namboodiri also directs the Wireless Networking and Systems (WiNeS) Laboratory ) that performs research on applying computer networking solutions for an energy efficient and sustainable planet.

Collaborators on the research include Jewell and WSU graduate Visvakumar Aravinthan. The efforts are part of funded research from the Power Systems Engineering Research Center and the Department of Energy.
