WSU seniors represent university at regional competition

Undergraduate students in industrial and manufacturing engineering at 成人头条 have received first- and third-place awards in the Institute of Industrial Engineers Region V paper competition.

Senior Jenny Marshall won first, and senior Danielle Davis won third during the IIE paper competition conference, held recently at Texas A&M.

Marshall will compete at the national level in May at the Industrial Engineering Research Conference.

Region V includes 17 industrial engineering programs in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. WSU students have received the top regional award every year during the past six years. Students also have received three national awards in the past six years.

Marshall presented a paper 鈥淚mprovement of Mobile Unit Loading at the American Red Cross Distribution Center in 成人头条, Kansas,鈥 which she co-authored with Fabio Tabon and Gladys Moriasi.

In their project, they reduced the overall cycle time of packing bins and loading vehicles by improving material handling, determining the optimal facility layout and increasing the safety of employees while loading vehicles to dispatch Red Cross vehicles faster for the blood drives.

Marshall will represent Region V at the International Student Paper Competition at the 2008 IIE Research Conference in Vancouver, Canada, May 17-21.
