New interim dean named for Barton School of Business

James Jordan-Wagner has been named interim dean of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 成人头条 effective Tuesday, Sept. 2, according to Provost and Senior Vice President Tony Vizzini.

Jordan-Wagner will serve as interim dean for the remainder of the 2014-15 academic year. A national search for a permanent dean will begin later this year.

Wagner succeeds interim dean Cindy Claycomb, who was recently named director of WSU Ventures. Claycomb also serves as assistant to President John Bardo, with responsibility for strategic planning.

鈥淛ames brings extensive experience as a business dean and an external view that will help further strengthen the Barton School in anticipation of hiring the permanent dean,鈥 said Tony Vizzini, provost and senior vice president.

Jordan-Wagner holds a Ph.D. in finance from the University of North Texas.

His experience includes work as a fixed income analyst in the London capital markets and as a faculty member specializing in international finance at Eastern Illinois University, where he also served as chair of the School of Business.

Since 2008, Jordan-Wagner was dean of the College of Business at Tennessee Technological University, where under his tenure the college was reaccredited by AACSB-I. He led an extensive renovation of the physical plant of the college, including the addition of a trading facility and cutting-edge teaching technology.

He also collaborated with the TTU College of Engineering to create a program in innovation, and with other colleges and departments to establish other interdisciplinary programs.

He and his wife, Diane, a physician in private practice, have two children. His interests are bicycles, travel and photography.
