Tacky Prom, other events help students make most of school experience

Nearly 50 成人头条 students dressed in their tackiest garb this week for Tacky Prom, held in the Rhatigan Student Center Beggs Ballroom.

Students who weren鈥檛 dancing were painting pet rocks, posing at the selfie booth or awkwardly mingling 鈥 your typical school dance.

The event was hosted by Peer Academic Leaders for students involved in one of WSU鈥檚 10 Living Learning Communities (LLCs). LLCs are groups of students who live together in Shocker Hall to expand their education through shared learning experiences beyond the classroom.

There are events scheduled for LLC members throughout the semester, and evenings such as Tacky Prom encourage the students to form strong bonds and ultimately help them do better in school, says LeaAnn Walker, assistant director of Housing and Residence Life.

鈥淭hey have a built-in support system, mentoring, leadership opportunities and an enhanced sense of community,鈥 she says. 鈥淧articipating in an LLC can help students make the most of their time at WSU.鈥
