Fall semester kicks off with two weeks of student activities

  • School got underway in style this fall with two weeks of good times for new and returning students.
  • The events were held during WSU's fall Welcomefest.
  • Highlights included Clash of the Colleges, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes and Wu-Rah.

New and returning 成人头条 State students kicked off the school year off with a variety of fun on-campus events during WSU鈥檚 annual Welcomefest, Aug. 20-Sept. 3.

One of the highlights of the events was Clash of the Colleges, held for just the second year but already a can鈥檛-miss event.

The head-to-head competition pitted about 800 students from WSU鈥檚 six academic colleges against each other.

The eventual winner was the , making them the two-time defending champions and ensuring an even bigger battle next year as the rest of the colleges seek to beat the champs.

Another popular event was Wu-Rah, a pep rally-style event held for the first time this year, replacing the annual Convocation event and starting a new WSU tradition for students.

Wu-Rah included performances and interactive activities, as well as a free-throw contest that won freshman Lauren Simon $250.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes came back to Welcomefest again this year.

The national event raised awareness of issues related to rape, sexual assault and gender violence in a fun atmosphere that includes men actually walking a mile on campus in high heels.
