Hot winds and dust kicked up in a field on the east side of town as 成人头条 students and their professor came face to face with a time machine 鈥 a mammoth tusk.

The tusk gained importance as the day went on, said David Hughes, WSU associate professor of anthropology.

鈥淲e went from looking at the site thinking it might be as old as 15,000 to 20,000 years old into thinking it might be more like 200,000 years, which would put it as one of the earliest discovered in Kansas,鈥 Hughes said.
