Barksdale has taken a circuitous route to become a Shocker.
After struggling to make enough money to go to college, he has benefited from the kindness of strangers and is now on the Dean's List in his first year in school.

成人头条 State freshman Tariq Barksdale was the subject of a national news segment on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.

The segment aired Wednesday, May 31, and focused on Barksdale, who used to walk 6 miles to and from work in north 成人头条 to save enough money for college.

One night, he was spotted by a stranger who went on to help pave the way for him to become a student at 成人头条 State.

Barksdale is now on the Dean's List because of his top grades and plans to pursue a career in education.

Barksdale's intruiging story caught the attention of NBC producers following a story that aired on .
