Robinson has served as associate vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha since July 2003.
"My vision for this position (at WSU) is to create an environment where student life complements the academic goals of students and allows them to achieve their maximum potential," Robinson said.
Robinson will replace current vice president Ron Kopita, who is retiring at the end of July after serving 10 years at 成人头条 State and a 42-year career in higher education.
President Beggs said he is pleased that Robinson has agreed to serve as the next vice president for Campus Life and University Relations.
"Dr. Robinson received broad support from the university community," said Beggs. "He brings a strong set of skills and experiences that are related to an urban-serving institution. I am convinced that he will lead the Division of Campus Life and University Relations in a very positive direction and will also be a valuable addition to the university community."
In his position at UNO, Robinson was responsible for the administration, coordination and development of all student affairs activities and functions of the campus. Robinson oversaw about 275 full- and part-time staff and student workers, and office budgets of about $7 million.
Robinson fostered collaboration across campus and managed changes in policies and practices that affect student life and student development.
He worked closely with the Student Disability Services Office and the Student Support Services TRIO grant program Project Achieve.
He was responsible for administering a $7.25 million program providing support for student fee-related programs.
In addition, Robinson acts as the primary incident command officer at UNO and is one of three lead staff members responsible for campus emergency response planning.
Robinson's experience includes major facilities projects. In fall 2008, UNO opened a 384-bed residence hall facility and a 900-stall parking structure with a combined budget of $28.4 million.
He also was the lead person in academic and student affairs, overseeing the $38.5 million renovation of and addition to UNO's campus recreation facility.
Prior to his current position, Robinson served as assistant vice chancellor for student enrollment services and director of admissions, records and registration at UNO from September 1997 to June 2003.
He served as interim assistant vice chancellor for student enrollment services and director of admissions from June to August 1997.
Robinson was interim Web master at UNO in March 1997 and director of academic records and registration/registrar from November 1994 to May 1997.
He was assistant registrar at the University of Nebraska at Kearney from June 1993 to November 1994.
Robinson received his Bachelor of Science in fitness and leisure management from the College of Education at Kearney State College in 1989; his master's in educational administration at the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1992; and his doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1995.
As vice president for Campus Life and University Relations at WSU, Robinson will oversee student life, enrollment services, Rhatigan Student Center, TRIO/GEARUP programs and university relations.
This position also continues as the university's liaison to the Alumni Association.
Robinson and his wife, Vicki, have three children, Tyler, Trevor and Ashley.
Tyler is in his third year at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Trevor is finishing his first year at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. Ashley is a freshman at Elkhorn High School.
