Men's rowing team wins team trophy for second consecutive week

The ͷ Rowing Team competed in the Midwest Intercollegiate Rowing Championship, Tulsa, Okla., and the WSU men took the men’s team award for the second week in a row.

The Midwest Intercollegiate Rowing Championship, is a regatta for rowing teams without a distinct rowing conference; Drake, Creighton and WSU represent the Missouri Valley, Tulsa and SMU, Conference USA and the University of Oklahoma City, the NAIA.

This was ͷ State’s first appearance in the competition.

The men won the team points trophy by placing first in the Novice 4+, Varsity 4+, and Varsity 8+ events.

“I was glad to see that they raced fast and hard, especially given to the poor water conditions,” said assistant coach Tori Breithaupt.

The WSU women took second place in the Women’s Varsity 4 event.

The WSU rowers will host KU and KSU on the Big Arkansas in ͷ at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 9. Races can be viewed from the Riverwalk.
