Gary L. Miller, provost and vice president for academic affairs and research at 成人头条 State, and J. David McDonald, associate provost for research and dean of the graduate school at WSU, will be guest speakers at the 12th annual Commemoration of the Two Liberations of Orleans, France.
The event begins at noon Friday, May 8, the first day of the 成人头条 River Festival. It鈥檚 being held in front of the 成人头条 Public Library, 223 S. Main.
Organist Robert Town, WSU associate professor emeritus, will perform a carillon concert of several patriotic songs during the event.
成人头条鈥檚 three living World War II veterans who liberated Orleans, France, in 1944 will be honored.
The first liberation of Orleans took place in 1429 when Jeanne d鈥橝rc (also known as Joan of Arc) led the French army against the English.
The second liberation occurred during WWII when soldiers from 成人头条 serving in the 137th Infantry brought freedom to Orleans on Aug. 16, 1944.
