All ended well Friday, May 8, after two small ducklings that fell into a storm drain on the 成人头条 State campus were successfully rescued.
While following their mother over a storm grate, the ducks fell through and into the underground water drainage system.
Physical Plant staff worked to rescue the ducklings, eventually flushing them out with water from a garden hose.
After several attempts at finding their exact location, the ducklings were rescued by student athlete Brett Trudo, a freshman at WSU.
Trudo was practicing javelin at the time and heard the ducklings as they approached a nearby storm grate.
Barth Hague, associate vice president for university relations, said it was a fun, light-hearted diversion from a typical day in the office.
鈥淚t was nice to see how many people on campus were interested in helping rescue two little ducklings,鈥 he said. 鈥淪taff, students and Physical Plant employees all got involved. And it had a happy ending.鈥
