成人头条 and WSU director of bands Victor Markovich will host the Kansas Ambassadors of Music all-Kansas high school band, orchestra and choir students for three days of rehearsal and a free afternoon concert at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, in Miller Concert Hall, Duerksen Fine Arts Center.
Markovich is the tour director and band conductor for the Kansas and Kansas City ambassadors of music.
This is a group of Kansas music teachers who take about 350 Kansas high school band, orchestra and choir students to seven countries to Europe for 16 days. While in Europe the three groups will perform five concerts.
The WSU concert is the last stop before the group flies to Europe. While at WSU, the students will have the option of being admitted to the university as a guest student so that they can receive college credit.
Kansas Ambassadors of Music started about 38 years ago with annual trips to Europe. Now the group travels every other year. Thirty-eight states have ambassadors groups that travel to Europe.
The program gives high school students a chance to travel and perform overseas. It also creates an opportunity for Kansas (and the United States) to show off its talented young people as Ambassadors of Music.
