Learn how to use your telescope at the observatory

The Lake Afton Public Observatory, in conjunction with the Kansas Astronomical Observers (KAO), invites anyone who would like some pointers on how to use their own telescope to attend one of the “Bring Your Own Telescope” programs.

The programs are at 9 p.m. Friday, July 17; 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21; and 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.

Bring your telescope to the observing pad behind north of the observatory building where members of the KAO will be waiting to assist.

They will also have many of their own telescopes available to look through.

Also, if you’re considering buying a telescope, come out to get more information about the different types of telescopes available.

There is no charge for the telescope consultation with the members of the KAO, but if you would also like to see the observatory’s regularly scheduled program and many exhibits while there, regular admission charges will apply.

The Lake Afton Public Observatory is operated by the Fairmount Center for Science and Mathematics Education, a part of the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Science at ͷ.
