Office of Multicultural Affairs holding MLK Unity Week events

The Office of Multicultural Affairs at 成人头条 invites the public to enjoy MLK Unity Week events on the WSU campus in observance of the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.

Events include:

鈥淩emember, Celebration, Act! A Day On Not a Day Off!鈥

When: noon-3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18

Where: WSU Hughes Metropolitan Complex, Lowe Auditorium, 29th Street and Oliver

The 成人头条 Ministerial League presents a celebration honoring the life of Martin Luther King Jr. Co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs. The guest speaker is Bishop Edward Houston Stephens Jr., pastor of Golden Gate Cathedral in Memphis, Tenn., and alumnus of Harvard Divinity鈥檚 School鈥檚 Summer Leadership Institute.

MLK Youth Poster Display

When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20

Where: 314 Rhatigan Student Center

Entry posters will be displayed for the MLK Youth Poster Contest (open to 成人头条 middle and high school students).

MLK Unity Rally

When: 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21

Where: South of Charles Koch Arena

The MLK Unity rally is aimed at remembering and continuing Martin Luther King Jr.鈥檚 legacy. It begins in the parking lot immediately south of Charles Koch Arena and ends at the Rhatigan Student Center. Co-sponsored by AmeriCorps GRASP. 

"Portraits of Courage: African Americans You Wish You Had Known鈥

When: 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21

Where: WSU CAC Theater

鈥淧ortraits of Courage鈥 is a dramatization of noted African-Americans and their contributions to American History. Surprised at the absence of African-American figures in today鈥檚 history books, a theatrical piece has been created to bring recognition to a few of those who have helped shaped our country.
