Percussion Ensemble to perform Benefit for Haiti

The 成人头条 Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band will perform a benefit concert for the victims of the Haiti earthquake at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 1, in Wiedemann Recital Hall.

Admission is free, but audience members are encouraged to make donations to the American Red Cross.

The concert will feature solo works by J.S. Bach, Fritz Kreisler and WSU鈥檚 Katherine Murdock, performed by members of the WSU Percussion Ensemble. Murdock鈥檚 piece is a premiere of a newly reworked piece originally written for saxophone and now performed on vibraphone.

Gerald Scholl, who leads the percussion program at WSU, will also perform a solo work.

Scholl said that, thus far, it鈥檚 the only benefit concert being presented by WSU鈥檚 School of Music.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an incredible opportunity for the WSU community to get together to both give to those in need and be thoroughly entertained by the talent and artistry of the WSU percussionists,鈥 said Scholl.
