WSU names fourth class of Dean's Scholars

After the most competitive process in program history, the fourth class of Dean鈥檚 Scholars at 成人头条 has been named.

Fifty-seven students from across the 成人头条 metropolitan area were honored at a February dinner on the WSU campus.

The list of students is available at .

Each year three local high schools are selected (a private school, a public school and a suburban school) from the 成人头条 area, and about 10 scholarships are awarded at each school.

This year鈥檚 Dean鈥檚 Scholars schools were Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, Goddard High School and 成人头条 North High School.

There are also at-large scholarships available to any high school senior from the 成人头条 metropolitan area. All applicants were required to have a 3.25 grade point average and at least a 26 on the ACT.

The Dean鈥檚 Scholars Program was created in 2007 by Dean of Enrollment Services Christine Schneikart-Luebbe. The program is aimed at attracting some of 成人头条鈥檚 best and brightest to 成人头条 State through a variety of social and academic programs.

Schneikart-Luebbe is amazed at the growth of the program in such a short time.

鈥淭hese are all very talented students, and I would love nothing more than for all of them to decide that 成人头条 State is where they want to pursue their education,鈥 she said.

During the past few months these students were given a firsthand look into all that 成人头条 State has to offer through a variety of social and academic programs. The average ACT score of the students selected was a 29, and the average grade point average was a 3.88.

鈥淭hese students are some of the area鈥檚 most impressive high school students, and I look forward to all that they will bring as Shockers,鈥 said Schneikart-Luebbe.
