KC-area school wins state LifeSmarts title

The LifeSmarts Junior Varsity State Championship was held at Exploration Place in 成人头条 on Monday, April 28.

Westridge Middle School from Shawnee Mission, Kan., won the state championship with its victory over Maize Middle School in the final match.

Other teams competing in the championship were Antioch Middle School, Barton County Special Services, Erie Middle School, Fairfield Middle School, Humboldt Middle School, Iola Middle School, Minneapolis Junior High, Overbrook Attendance Center, Pretty Prairie Middle School and Rose Hill Middle School.

The LifeSmarts program tests students鈥 knowledge in five subject areas: personal finance, consumer rights and responsibilities, technology, health and safety, and the environment.

The LifeSmarts program is provided nationally by the National Consumers League. It is coordinated in Kansas by the Kansas Council on Economic Education.

The KCEE is a nonprofit entity organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The KCEE is affiliated with all six state universities and is based in the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 成人头条. The KCEE offers the LifeSmarts program in Kansas with financial sponsorship from the Division of Consumer and Mortgage Lending of the Office of the State Bank Commissioner as umbrella sponsor and American Century Investments as subject area sponsor.
