The Lake Afton Public Observatory is honoring Smithsonian magazine's 4th annual Museum Day, a one-day nationwide event at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in celebration of culture, learning and the dissemination of knowledge.
More than 700 participating museums and cultural institutions across the country are offering free admission through a special offer presented by Smithsonian magazine.
By presenting a Museum Day admission card at the Lake Afton Public Observatory on Saturday, one person and an accompanying guest will be granted free admission. The admission cards can be found in the September issue of Smithsonian magazine as well as at Smithsonian's Museum Day Web site, http://.
The observatory鈥檚 event will feature a presentation of the 鈥�400th Anniversary of the Telescope,鈥� an observation of various deep sky objects with a 16-inch telescope and a discussion of various famous telescopes that have been used in profound discoveries.
The admission card is good for general admission for the card-bearer plus one guest; one admission card per household is permitted; it is not for use with any other offer; and the offer is only valid Saturday, Sept. 27.
Lake Afton Public Observatory is located about 20 miles southwest of downtown 成人头条 on MacArthur Road at 247th St. West in Lake Afton County Park. Operating hours are Friday and Saturday from 9-11 p.m May 1-Aug. 31. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12; children under 6 are free.
