WSU Theater presents 'A Hedda Gabler' performance, workshop

成人头条 Theater will present 鈥淎 Hedda Gabler鈥 at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16-18, and 2 p.m. Nov. 19, in Wilner Auditorium.

Aristocrat Hedda Gabler is newly married to academic George Tesman and finds herself trapped in a life lacking in personal agency. Boredom and suffocating social conformity lead her to manipulate the lives of others in an effort to become master of her fate. But her desperate path can only end in destruction.

Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Box Office in the lobby of the Duerksen Fine Arts Center or online at . General admission is $20, with $18 discount tickets available for seniors, faculty/staff and military or $10 tickets for children and students. 鈥淎 Hedda Gabler鈥 is directed by Danette Baker, visiting assistant professor of theater, with assistance from theater major Jeremy Buoy, assistant director.

Playwright Nigel O鈥橦earn鈥檚 contemporary translation / adaption of Henrick Ibsen鈥檚 19th century masterpiece 鈥淗edda Gabler鈥 was a finalist at the 2012 International Ibsen Festival, National Theatre of Norway.

A reception for O鈥橦earn will be held in the Wilner Commons immediately following Saturday night鈥檚 performance.
Join O鈥橦earn for a playwriting workshop that will address dialogue analysis and writing, with a focus on what elements of good dialogue move an audience toward understanding from 2-5:30 p.m. Nov. 18, in Welsbacher Theatre at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex, entrance F.

The workshop is free. Attendees should bring a pad of paper, writing utensil and a creative spirit.
