"What is especially telling about our enrollment data is that during the last nine years, the percentage of our undergraduate students enrolled full time has increased from 55 percent to more than 68 percent," said Ron Kopita, vice president for campus life and university relations. "Students are eager to complete their degrees, and we are creating financial opportunities through scholarships and financial aid to help them take more credit hours."
The enrollment increase is attributed primarily to an increase in new students from Sedgwick County and international students.
This fall there are 981 new freshmen enrolled from Sedgwick County, compared to 914 last fall, an increase of 7.3 percent. There are 1,365 international students enrolled, compared to 1,284 in fall 2007, for an increase of 6.3 percent.
The average age of undergraduate students is 24.8 years; the median is 22 years of age.
