The Elliott School of Communication at 成人头条 will host its annual Communication Week Oct. 13-15 on the WSU campus. All activities are free and open to the public.
A speech by debate coach and Elliott School associate director Jeff Jarman titled "Liars, Crooks and Cheats!" will kick off the week's activities at 9:30 a.m. Monday in 203 Rhatigan Student Center. Jarman will speak about how to determine whether a politician or campaign is misleading or untruthful.
Other events include "Insider's Guide to What They're Thinking: The View from Behind the Desk," a presentation by the Elliott School advisory board comprised of area communication professionals addressing how to secure a job and get promoted in competitive communication industries; "The Write Stuff," a session offering tips on writing improvement led by 成人头条 Business Journal editor Bill Roy and Jim Kobbe of KSN Sports; and "Government in Secret," a panel discussion on trust in the government led by Randy Brown and Pat Dooley of the ESC, former state senator Rich Gannon and media law attorney Mike Merriam.
Other sessions range from social networking in the workplace to one WSU student's experiences on the reality TV show "Big Brother."
Members of the local media, as well as several WSU faculty members, will help lead the discussions throughout the week.
Elliott School outstanding alum Ralph Vautravers will be honored at a reception from 5-6 p.m. Monday in the Ulrich Museum of Art followed by a keynote address from 6-6:30 p.m.
