Ralph Vautravers named Elliott School's Alumnus of the Year

Ralph Vautravers, founder of Rand Graphics Inc., will be recognized as the Elliott School of Communication 2008 outstanding alumnus during a reception at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in WSU鈥檚 Ulrich Museum of Art.

The reception will be followed by a keynote message by Vautravers at 6 p.m.

Vautravers, a 1952 WSU graduate, began his experience in communication at age 16, when he worked at the Minneapolis Messenger, the weekly newspaper in Minneapolis, Kan.

After graduating from high school, he went to work at Grit Printing Co. before starting Rand Publishing Co., now Rand Graphics Inc., in 1963.

The company鈥檚 first job was publishing the weekly newspaper for McConnell Air Force Base. Rand Graphics now handles national accounts for clients such as Anheuser-Busch, Dr Pepper, Wal-Mart, Lowe鈥檚 and Pizza Hut.

Rand Graphics is under the leadership of Vautravers鈥 son, Randy.
