WSU to host Financial Aid Good Start Workshop

The 成人头条 Office of Financial Aid invites high school seniors to a Financial Aid Good Start Workshop from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Marcus Welcome Center.

Students who plan to enter college in fall 2009 are invited to come and enjoy a great breakfast while learning how to get their college financial aid off to a good start.

Students will hear from experienced counselors in small breakout sessions about a variety of topics including scholarships, loans, FAFSA and money management.

Breakfast/registration begins at 8 a.m. with individual sessions starting at 9 a.m. Admission is free, but space is limited. Students need to register online at .

Scholarship Souffle
Get tips from scholarship counselor Angie Zeorlin on applying for and finding scholarships. Learn what not to do on your application and how to avoid commonly made mistakes. Get help writing a personal statement that will wow reviewers. Hear about the many different scholarships that WSU awards students and how they are awarded.

The Bacon and Eggs on Loans
Regina Krob is the loan guru at 成人头条 and will give students the bacon and eggs on loans. Learn how to apply for student loans, the rules and terms of getting loans, and who is eligible for loans. Krob will describe each of the different types of loans and help you to understand which loan may be right for you. Learn about interest rates, deferments, repayment of loans and all about consolidation of loans.

Fresh Fruit, French Toast & FAFSA 101
Learn about all of the basics with experienced counselors Karen Porter and Loretta Jackson. Learn how to apply for federal aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and how to apply for an electronic PIN number. Also, learn what types of aid are available by completing the FAFSA application.

Wake Up with Money Matters
Discover how to get your college finances off to a good start. Do you want to hear from two people who know what it is actually like to be a poor college student? Assistant directors Joe Donlay and April Keim will talk to students about the truth when borrowing money. Learn about student loans and what the repayment of those loans will be like. Learn about credit and how the things you do now can affect what you want to purchase later.
