College of Fine Arts has busy November planned

One of the lesser performed works by Gilbert and Sullivan will come alive early in November when the College of Fine Arts Opera and Musical Theatre Series tickles audiences with the comic 鈥淚olanthe,鈥 which comes with a fairy queen and a few good pokes at England鈥檚 House of Lords.

The Rie Bloomfield Organ Series will continue with Olivier Vernet on the Marcussen organ, and the Faculty Artist Series will feature the Fairmount Piano Quartet and, later, Phillip Black on tuba.

Mid-month, dance dreams come true with the annual Kansas Dance Festival, showcasing top dancers and choreographers from WSU and the region.

The same weekend kicks off with an artist鈥檚 talk by Roger Shimomura, whose exhibit continues through November at the Ulrich Museum of Art.

Also on tap are the Jazz Arts I and Mid-Kansas Jazz Ensemble concert; the student contest winning play "Gedenken," produced by Second Stage Theatre; and the WSU Percussion Ensemble. The month ends with a crowd-favorite bonus event: "Amahl and the Night Visitors."
