Kansas Dance Festival brings university talent to WSU

成人头条鈥檚 faculty and student dancers will perform and network with faculty and students from the region鈥檚 other universities when the School of Performing Arts hosts the annual Kansas Dance Festival at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 14-15, in Miller Concert Hall, Duerksen Fine Arts Center.

Top talent from 成人头条鈥檚 dance program will meld with such guest companies as the University of Kansas and the University of Central Oklahoma, for two exciting evenings of classic and contemporary dance.

It鈥檚 always an eclectic evening of dance, according to C. Nicholas Johnson, director of WSU鈥檚 dance program. But Johnson appreciates the festival for more than just offering the community stellar dance performances.

鈥淭he importance of the arts is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 wonderful when an event is larger than what it is. It鈥檚 great when it鈥檚 more than just a dance concert. That鈥檚 what鈥檚 super about the festival.鈥

The networking for the students, too, is huge, said Johnson.

鈥淲e always host a meal after the last show; we鈥檒l have 100 dancers in our house,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 just a really fun short blast of a moment where they all get to meet and greet each other.鈥

Finally, WSU annually hosting the festival helps the College of Fine Arts maintain a presence in the Midwest, Johnson said, and 鈥渢hat visibility translates to growth.鈥
