成人头条 has partnered with the Kansas National Guard and Cadet Command Army ROTC to begin offering a Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program.
The program, housed under WSU鈥檚 Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, will begin in fall 2019, creating a path to college for the nearly 2,500 students already involved in Junior ROTC programs at 成人头条-area middle and high schools.
Students going through WSU鈥檚 Army ROTC program will select a major of their choosing and will minor in military science.
Through their courses and the program, the community of ROTC students will learn the skills to be an effective leader and develop a sense of dedication, duty and discipline.
A variety of scholarships are offered from Army ROTC and the Kansas National Guard. Scholarships pay 100 percent tuition and fees, or a $5,000 housing stipend per semester. Students contracted with the Kansas National Guard can receive up to $4,000 each semester in addition to the scholarship.
This partnership is a collaboration between WSU, the Kansas National Guard and Pittsburg State University, which serves as host for the WSU ROTC program. Pittsburg State already has extension units located at Garden City Community College and Cowley College.
Marche Fleming-Randle, vice president for Diversity and Community Engagement, says students will get to serve their country, their university and themselves by gaining a top-notch education.
鈥淣ot only is it a great way to be a Shocker, but also a way to be all you can be in WSU ROTC,鈥 she says.
