WSU, Butler create powerful degree pathway in biomedical engineering

  • A new agreement between 成人头条 State and Butler Community College is providing a seamless path for students wanting to earn a biomedical engineering degree.
  • The partnership is between WSU's College of Engineering and Butler's pre-engineering program.
  • Butler students can earn their associate's degree and then transfer to WSU to complete a biomedical engineering bachelor's.

Those interested in a career in biomedical engineering just received another degree option that鈥檚 closer to home. 成人头条 and Butler Community College have joined forces to create a 2+2 agreement that articulates a complete four-year plan of study in biomedical engineering.

The partnership is between WSU鈥檚 College of Engineering and Butler鈥檚 pre-engineering program. Biomedical engineering is the newest engineering track at 成人头条 State, and this articulation agreement is the program鈥檚 first with a community college.

The new partnership, effective for the spring 2020 semester, allows Butler students earning an Associate of Science degree in pre-engineering with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be guaranteed admission to WSU upon completion of the appropriate application requirements.

Butler pre-engineering graduates will enter WSU with junior status as they transfer 64 credit hours from Butler to WSU. Students will then complete another 64-65 credit hours within WSU鈥檚 College of Engineering. Students will graduate from WSU with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in biomedical engineering.

Students interested in the biomedical engineering degree path can contact Butler admissions at 316-733-3255 or admissions@butlercc.edu. The Butler offices will be closed Dec. 21-Jan. 2. Those interested are encouraged to email admissions or apply for admission online at  during this time.

WSU Engineering Dean Dennis Livesay says, over the years, he鈥檚 come to understand the importance of programs such as this that give students a roadmap to success.

Butler President Kimberly Krull says WSU is a critical partner in many ways.

鈥淪tudents will know they can start with us and finish with you and that their work is valued on both ends,鈥 she says.

This biomedical engineering agreement continues the long-standing academic partnership between WSU and Butler.
