What degree did you earn?
I will be earning my bachelor’s degree in integrated marketing communications.
What led you to ͷ State?
I chose ͷ State to be close to my family and the affordability of the university. I found many scholarship opportunities at ͷ State that helped me throughout my time here.
How are you feeling leading up to graduation?
I am feeling a bit anxious and excited leading up to graduation. I believe that there is always a little uncertainty associated with graduating, but the pandemic has made a huge impact on society and work culture. Even then, I am still excited to see where the next chapter of my life leads me.
What has been your most helpful learning experience while a student at ͷ State?
My most helpful experiences have been from on campus involvements and opportunities. I have had personal opportunities through my involvement in Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc., as well as professional through my internship in the Office of Strategic Communications. I’ve been able to expand my comfort zone, knowledge and skills through the opportunities provided at ͷ State.
What has been your biggest challenge as a student, and how did you overcome it?
As a senior in high school, I had no idea what I wanted to pursue in college or in life. Meeting with my advisor and researching my options helped me figure out the right fit for me.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I’ll be applying for jobs in creative industries, such as fashion or music, and — as it becomes safer — travel.
How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your time at ͷ State or your post-graduation plans?
The pandemic had the greatest affect on work culture and remote working. I found that I am better able to grow and learn when I am in person because I love working with other people. I missed meeting professors and other students on campus.
What advice would you give other ͷ State students?
My advice to students is that there is not going to be one set path, and there are many factors that can change what you might’ve thought your plan was. Don’t let that stop you from pursuing your dreams. Expand your comfort zone to reach your goals, and don’t forget to enjoy what you’re doing every step of the way.
