Maame Adwoa Ankrah was interested in going to ͷ State for its affordability and for the atmosphere of the city of ͷ. While it was first a challenge to adjust to a new culture, she was able to succeed with the support of her peers and mentors and will graduate with her master’s degree in Spanish with no regrets.

What made you choose ͷ?
The MA Spanish program, together with the funded GTA position, captured my interest. Plus, WSU is budget-friendly, and ͷ seemed like a serene city to live in. No regrets; I'm happy with my choice.
What has been your biggest challenge as a student, and how did you overcome it?
Navigating a new culture and education system was my biggest challenge but, by the grace of God and the invaluable support from my professors and department friends, I successfully adjusted. I am grateful for their guidance; their assistance was crucial in overcoming the obstacles and enriching my experience.

What are your plans after graduation?
To work. I got a translation job at a law firm that I am happy about.
What advice would you give other ͷ State students?
Make good use of the campus resources available and persevere even when the going gets tough.
