The Career Readiness Series: Professionalism and Global Fluency - Oct. 16
The Career Development Center is hosting another workshop for students in our Career Readiness series: Professionalism and Global Fluency from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Career Development Center in Brennan III.
Employers are looking for ͷ State graduates to be Career Ready — meaning graduates know how to use their talents, strengths, and interests. Being Career Ready means recognizing and demonstrating the competencies identified by employers that are crucial to a successful transition into the workplace.
Our workshops are designed to help students understand the meaning of these competencies, learn how to identify and exhibit these skills, and how to further develop them right now.

Transition Mentor application is open!
First-Year Programs in Student Success is seeking nominations for next year’s transition mentor staff! We are looking for exceptional students who are passionate about WSU and want to help welcome new students to our campus.
Transition Mentors are responsible for transitioning students to WSU beginning in the summer with orientation, and mentoring new freshmen throughout the fall semester.

LeaderShape Institute applications due Oct. 30
WSU is hosting its third session of the Institute by LeaderShape, a four-day experience that challenges participants to lead with integrity. This is a nationally recognized organization that facilitates participants through a series of dynamic, challenging, and exciting sessions designed to increase, develop, and launch the leadership capacity of students. This experience will not only benefit them individually, but professionally, and the communities / organizations they go on to lead and serve in the future.
Participants will cultivate leadership skills, reflect, and discuss leadership lessons within a small cohort or cluster of students. LeaderShape will be held at Rock Springs 4-H Center in Junction City, Kansas, from Jan. 14-17, 2020.

Shockers for Life will hold October meeting today (Friday, Oct. 11)
ͷ State’s new pro-life organization, Shockers for Life, will hold their next meeting at 7 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 11) in 142 RSC.
This meeting is open to all students and will focus on planning the group’s upcoming service, awareness and fundraising events. Attendees will have the opportunity to register as an official member of the group, sign-up to buy a Shockers for Life T-shirt and receive a few free stickers.
The mission of Shockers for Life is to “establish an active pro-life culture among the youth of our community by educating our peers on life and by actively promoting the life for all persons (pre-born and born).”

Sign up for this year's Shocktoberfest Dodgeball Tournament
Remember the five D’s of dodgeball; dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge. Gather a group and sign your team up for this year’s Shocktoberfest Dodgeball Tournament by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. Teams must have a minimum of six participants to compete and no more than 10 participants on the court at any one time. Pre-registration and a $10 registration fee per team is required. The tournament will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Fall World Series, Alumni Weekend details announced
The annual ͷ State Baseball Fall World Series will begin on Saturday, Oct. 12,
at Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field. The series is slated to last until Saturday,
Oct. 19.
The Shocker roster will be divided into two teams, the Black and Yellow.
Admission to each game of the Fall World Series is a can of food for the Kansas Food Bank.
Shocktoberfest 2019 is nearly here!
Shocktoberfest 2019 is a celebration of Shocker Pride at ͷ and everyone is welcome to take part in the festivities. The WSU Campus Traditions Committee has been hard at work coordinating a schedule of events that highlights the excitement that campus has to offer.
Shocktoberfest includes athletic events and activities, competitions, service, philanthropies, a birthday celebration for WuShock, and a lip sync competition. Events begin on Saturday, Oct. 19 and end on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Make a difference as a Prevention Ambassador
The Prevention Services Advisory Board (PSAB) is currently recruiting students to become Prevention Ambassadors. They will assist the PSAB in our mission as it aligns with the #WSUWeSupportU prevention program that focuses on promoting mental health and wellness and preventing suicide, sexual violence and substance abuse. This position qualifies for a zero-credit internship, and will provide the opportunity to engage with the WSU community.
