Ulrich Museum seeks volunteers today to help edit Wikipedia entries of women artists in the museum's permanent collection
Come join the Ulrich Museum of Art for a Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today (Friday, March 6). The event needs volunteers to help edit the entries of several female artists featured in the Ulrich Museum鈥檚 permanent collection. The Edit-a-Thon will be held in two sessions: one from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.; and another session from 12:30-3 p.m.
Each session will begin with a brief tutorial on how to edit and navigate Wikipedia pages. All research materials have been collected and will be provided to volunteers to ease the workload.
The event is being organized by Ulrich interns Nellie Elliott and Carter Bryant, both of whom are seniors majoring in art history at WSU. They wanted to create a local project to tie into the global efforts coordinated annually by Art + Feminism, a nonprofit organization that directly addresses the inequality of gender, feminism, and the arts on Wikipedia. The Ulrich event will focus on the entries for about a dozen female artists featured in the museum鈥檚 permanent collection.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own laptop. Refreshments, free wi-fi, and curated research material will be provided. Space is limited, so those interested in volunteering should reserve a spot by emailing Ulrich.Intern@wichita.edu.

In 1957, a ballet Frigidaire Finale is performed amidst a group of stubbornly inert refrigerators. Call it a futile mating ritual. The advertising agency clearly suggested that the frisson would rub o on the Frigidaires. One such device is a sweet android for pre-teens, a Hello Barbie doll that retails for $74.99. March is Brain Injury Awareness Month
March is recognized as Brain Injury Awareness Month. Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) can impact many aspects of everyday life. TBI can affect anyone, but are commonly seen in military personnel, athletes, those who have fallen, and motor vehicle accidents.

The International Women鈥檚 Day keynote speech, 鈥淐itizenship before the Women's Suffrage Amendment: African American and Native American, Rights and Resistance,鈥� will be delivered by Professor Kim Warren of the History Department at the University of Kansas at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in Shirley Beggs Ballroom, third floor, RSC. The Ad Astra Film Studies Conference - Spring 2020 - is featuring regional and local documentary filmmakers who will discuss their films on Monday, March 9.

All students, faculty, staff, student organizations and departments are invited to submit entries that are examples of diversity or highlight successes related to diversity. Dream Run 2 Miles is a fundraising 2-mile run for a scholarship that is provided by Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc. and Student Government Association for undocumented students who are not eligible to receive federal student aid.
