Virtual panel series tackles social inequality research in relation to the pandemic
The Covid-19 pandemic has exposed several types of social inequality already present in American and global societies. In this panel, social scientists will join with subject librarians in a discussion of approaches and research methods used to explore social inequality in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Military and Veteran Services will be celebrating Veterans Day with a reception from 10 a.m.-noon today (Wednesday, Nov. 11) in 105 Grace Wilkie Hall. It will be a come-and-go format with social distancing. This day we honor all veterans for their service to our nation.

Applicants needed to establish 'Arthouse Film Club' at WSU
A small group of film students is looking for members to potentially establish an Arthouse Film Club for the 2021 winter and spring semester at WSU. As a club member, students would meet up regularly for a screening of a handpicked feature. The selections could range from an experimental classic to a contemporary art-piece, or even a foreign-language pick. Needless to say, there are a lot of options available.
Arthouse Film serves an important role in understanding the current film landscape, as well as where it's headed in the future. Artisan-led movements -- such as the French New Wave and Italian Neorealism -- have served to explore the limits of what film can be and have been sources of constant inspiration for those in the industry. If you are majoring in film or are just a fan of the medium in general, we strongly urge you to not let an opportunity like this pass you by.

Respondus LockDown browser now available for Chromebook
Respondus LockDown browser is now available to students using Chromebook as a beta test for 成人头条 State and a few other universities. If you are a student who needs Respondus LockDown Browser for a Chromebook, please follow these instructions:
- Log into the Chromebook and start Google Chrome
- Go to the download link for : You will automatically be redirected to the Chrome Web Store.
- From the Chrome Web Store, select 鈥淎dd to Chrome鈥� to install the LockDown Browser Extension
- Log in to Blackboard Learn and navigate to the exam that requires LockDown Browser
- The LockDown Browser extension will be started automatically when an assessment requires it
- Note: during the beta, this extension will only work with assessments an instructor has enabled for use with LockDown Browser for Chromebook. If your instructor has asked you to use it, but it won't work for you, check with them to make sure they have authorized Chromebook use for the quiz you need to work on.

Students can vote for a WSU tartan!
As part of the 125th anniversary of 成人头条 State, WSU students will receive an email
asking them to vote for a WSU tartan. A tartan is a distinctive pattern of lines and
checks found on kilts and is usually associated with Scottish clans. However, communities,
states, and even universities can have tartans. With so many activities for the 125th
changed or put on hold, here is a chance to show school pride!
Students from Dr. Chris Parks鈥� art class, in conjunction with Dr. Jay Price in history,
came up with four different designs for a possible tartan. Some designs emphasize
the yellow of the school colors while others highlight the black. Now it is up to
the students to vote which design they like best. Students are asked to select your
first, second, and third choice. When completed, Price will work to get that design
listed in the Scottish Register of Tartans.
The voting will last until Nov. 25, the start of Thanksgiving break. One email has already gone out and another reminder will go out later in November. If there are questions or ideas, please contact Jay Price at jay.price@wichita.edu for more information.

Attention students! How can we better our parking system?
For my Technical Writing class, one of the required projects involves working collaboratively as a group, with the goal of writing a proposal that identifies a problem or opportunity that impacts an organization or community we belong to. The project plan that my group came up with was fixing the ongoing parking situation that occurs at WSU. In order to successfully complete this project, our group needs to gather information that will be used in our proposal.
One of the primary sources we wanted to include in our paper was surveying students at WSU. The survey questions mainly revolve around asking the audience about how they feel about the current student parking system, and if they have any suggestions to try to improve it.
While this proposal is not official and will not be submitted to anyone but our professor, we have to treat it and write it as if it were real. We would greatly appreciate any of the inputs that the audience has to provide.

Researchers at 成人头条, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley are doing an online research study to see what 10-17 year-old children think about COVID-19, and what they think about their parents鈥� beliefs and behaviors during this time.
When children complete the survey, their family will be entered into a raffle for a $10 gift card. We hope about 250 children complete our survey, and we will raffle 50 of the gift cards. If you have a child living in your home who is 10-17 years old, your child might be eligible for this study.

Meeting to explore a possible 成人头条 Amateur Radio Club
A Zoom meeting will be held from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, about starting a 成人头条 State University Amateur Radio Club. Students, faculty and staff are welcome.
Amateur radio is a relevant and important way to communicate over very large distances, even many foreign countries or in local emergencies. The 成人头条 Amateur Radio Club will help you get your FCC license through short training sessions, and with the help of the 成人头条 Amateur Radio Club conduct an FCC examination.
The club will also participate in long-distance radio communications with other clubs, to the International Space Station, and get involved with upcoming projects such as Cube-Sat communications.

Student Success Peer Tutoring Program earns international certification!
Student Success is proud to announce Level I and Level II international certification of its Peer Tutoring Program through the College Reading & Learning Association鈥檚 International Tutor Training Program Certification (CRLA-ITTPC)!
What does this mean for our students? Our tutors earn credentials they can add to their professional portfolios. Students receiving tutoring from our program can be assured that our tutors are professional, well trained and dedicated to their personal success.
The Peer Tutoring Program participated in an application process that requires extensive documentation of the program鈥檚 practices including tutor training, session facilitation and observation materials. Tutors earn Level I certification after participating in training, demonstrating sound tutoring practices, and documenting required tutoring hours. Many of our tutors progress through the program with additional training and practice to earn Level II certification.

Business students are collecting canned food and personal hygiene products for those in need
Business students in Management 463 are operating a Remote Food and Necessities Drive now through Thanksgiving to aid those affected by Covid-19. Non-perishable canned food, and hygiene items like soap, lotion, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products are in great need.
We can arrange porch pickup of food and supplies via our Facebook Page to encourage social distancing, or we have local drop-off locations at area businesses and the south entrance of the Rhatigan Student Center (by the parking lot). We also accept monetary donations to the Kansas Food Bank via our Facebook Page.
