Teaching faculty are invited to apply for Tilford Incentive Grant
The 2019-20 Tilford Incentive grants will focus on promoting inclusive teaching. Course proposals that offer content and teaching techniques to promote the inclusion of first generation students, LGBTQ individuals, persons with disabilities or other marginalize groups will be given stronger consideration.

myPerformance Manager Review is due now!
Managers of USS and Non-Teaching UP employees should now submit reviews and ratings for their direct reports for the 2018-19 annual evaluations in myPerformance. This step is due Thursday, Feb. 28.
Managers should log in to myPerformance in myWSU to rate their direct reports and submit comments to justify the ratings. For more information (including quick reference guides, training available, and open labs) go to www.wichita.edu/myPerformance.
Call for Presentations / Save the Date: 6th Annual Gender & Sexuality in Kansas Conference
We are currently seeking submissions of original research, training / workshops, and other scholarship from any discipline from students, scholars, staff, and interested others associated with a college or university in Kansas.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, Feb. 25. We hope that you will consider submitting a proposal consisting of a 200-300 word summary of your proposed presentation, and/or encourage your students and colleagues to submit proposals.
The conference will take place on Friday, March 29 in the Rhatigan Student Center.
Our keynote speaker for this year鈥檚 conference is Monique Morris, award-winning author of the book 鈥淧ushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools.鈥 Her talk will be titled 鈥淓ducation is Freedom Work (And Other Critical Reflections about Responses to School Pushout for Black Girls).鈥

Encourage your students to participate in the WSU / McBEE Campus Safety Survey
成人头条 will again participate in a national campus consortium assessing Title IX safety issues and evaluating the efficacy of previously instituted federal mandates for providing Bystander Intervention Programming as a means of preventing sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking on college campuses. We seek your help in advertising the 2019 WSU / McBEE Campus Safety Survey in your courses
Students can access the research survey via a unique link emailed to them on Feb. 11, or online through myWSU. (In myWSU, students will need to scroll to the second box on left hand side of the home page). The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete, and students participating in the research will be entered into one of two drawings for $250 scholarships and $50 Amazon Gift Cards. A total of four scholarships and 14 gift cards are being provided by the Title IX office for Spring 2019.

WSU Tech is looking for more people who they will pay to move to 成人头条 and train to work at top aviation companies
WSU Tech is ramping up their 成人头条 Promise Move scholarship that pays tuition and fees, relocation and cost of living expenses and provides a guaranteed job interview for the second time this year in response to local aviation companies major job initiative announcements.
成人头条, Kansas, named 鈥淭he Air Capital of the World鈥 is experiencing rapid growth in their aviation and manufacturing operations. WSU Tech, the largest technical college in Kansas, is thinking outside of the box to produce a trained workforce to meet their hiring needs through a scholarship program titled .
After successfully relocating and training 50 individuals from across the United States to 成人头条 in fall 2018, WSU Tech hopes to duplicate this success for the second time this year.
The goal of 成人头条 Promise Move is to relocate people who live at least 75-miles outside of the 成人头条 area from states along the I-35 corridor plus Missouri to receive training and an employment opportunity at no cost to the student. WSU Tech hopes to attract 50 more individuals to start training as early as March.
成人头条 Promise Move is designed to help break down the barriers that keep individuals from getting trained,鈥 said WSU Tech President Sheree Utash, president. 鈥淲hether those barriers are financial, location, time or the fear of failing, we are ready to help anyone get the training they need to get a career in aviation and live, work and play in 成人头条, Kansas."
成人头条 Promise Move promises to:
- pay tuition and fees for eligible training programs at WSU Tech
- provide certifications and credentials
- provide personal career coaching
- and a guaranteed job interview
Eligible training programs for the 成人头条 Promise Move include and Process Mechanic Paint. The eligible programs were selected based on the hiring needs at 成人头条鈥檚 aviation companies. Both programs can be completed in just six to eight weeks.
In addition, 成人头条 Promise Move will assist students by
- paying relocation expenses
- providing housing and paying cost of living expenses while in the program
- and offering a potential sign-on bonus when hired
WSU Tech will also provide other optional assistance for these students based on need.
Among the companies offering guaranteed job interviews to 成人头条 Promise Move students are Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation. Both located in 成人头条, Spirit AeroSystems designs and builds aerostructures for both commercial and defense customers and Textron Aviation is the leading general aviation authority and home to the Beechcraft, Cessna and Hawker brands. Of the 50 students who participated in the 成人头条 Promise Move program in the fall of 2018, all 50 received job offers with one of these two companies.
成人头条 Promise Move is limited to the first 50 students who meet the program eligibility requirements and are from Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas or Kansas, but 75-miles outside of 成人头条. The first opportunity to begin classes will be in March.

Please encourage your students to consider running for SGA office. The Declaration for Candidacy for the SGA Senate continues to be open.
Senators work on the voting legislative body of SGA, are required to complete two office hours per week, they are able to work on specified initiatives, and attend weekly committee and senate meetings on Wednesdays.
We need your help to identify students who you believe are willing to help shape the direction of the university. Encourage your students and direct them to to learn more.
Graduate student seeking participants for coping with depression research project
A WSU graduate student working on her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is seeking volunteers to participate in a project that compares two approaches for coping with depression. This study will be conducted within the Department of Psychology (Jabara Hall) under the supervision of Robert Zettle, and will require your involvement for 18- 20 weeks. The study involves eight weekly treatment sessions.
The first two weeks involve one hour sessions and the remaining six sessions will be half-hour sessions. Participants who complete all sessions will be contacted one week and two months later for follow-up measures.
Participants must be at least 18 and will be screened in three stages to determine their eligibility.
If you are interested, complete an (30 minutes) to assess your initial eligibility. The next two stages will be conducted in person for 20 and 50 minutes respectively.

Shocker Learning Center to host a Valentine鈥檚 Day Open House
The Shocker Learning Center (SLC) is hosting an Open House from 1-3 p.m. on Valentine鈥檚 Day, Thursday, Feb. 14, in 107 Lindquist Hall. Stop by and learn to love learning!
The SLC is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is the home of Student Success鈥 Academic Success Programs.
Supplemental Instruction (SI): Free, weekly group study sessions led by a certified SI leader who has previously succeeded in the course. Meet with your SI leader individually during their office hours.
Tutoring: Free one-on-one and small group educational support with a trained tutor.
Peer Coaches: Peers helping peers with time management, study skills, goal setting, organizing assignments, note taking and referrals to other resources on campus.
In addition to the services it offers, the SLC is also a study room equipped with computers, and free beverages such as coffee, tea, hot chocolate and filtered water.
