Do you know of an advisor who goes above and beyond for students? The Advising Network (TAN) is proud to support student success by recognizing academic advisors at 成人头条 State University. Anyone who provides advising services in any role (faculty or staff) is eligible for nomination.
These awards recognize individuals who demonstrate qualities and practices that make significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising at WSU and beyond. Nominate an advisor by completing an by April 24.
Seeking Academic Affairs Fellows
The Office of Academic Affairs is seeking several faculty or staff members with an interest in gaining administrative experience through leadership of three projects that advance WSU鈥檚 Strategic Plan. These Academic Affairs Fellows will select to work on one of the following three projects: Advancing the use of Open Educational Resources (OER鈥檚) on campus, Developing a Record of Experiential and Applied Learning, and Exploring trends in higher education around curriculum and program development, and student success.
Project work would begin for summer 2019, with some projects extending into AY 2019-20. The deadline to submit a letter of interest is Monday, April 1.

Attention managers of USS and non-teaching UP employees!
Manager signatures for myPerformance evaluations from March 2018 through March 2019 should be available as long as the employee has signed and submitted their signature. The employee signature due date was (March 7). Managers should log in to myPerformance in myWSU to submit electronic signatures by Thursday, March 14.
Also, planning for myPerformance evaluations from March 2019 through March 2020 is available.
To access the current review period鈥檚 evaluations, look for 鈥2019-2020 Annual鈥 in the list of evaluation titles. Managers should add expectations for the 2019-20 review period, including competencies and goals in myPerformance, then meet with their employees to provide copies and review planning. Planning should be completed by Sunday, March 31.

WSU Fire Safety will conduct inspections during spring break
WSU Fire Safety will do annual sprinkler system inspections and will set off alarms in buildings during spring break. Fire Safety will conduct inspections from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. today (Monday, March 11) to Friday, March 15.
Next LaunchPrep entrepreneurial class announced
The Center for Entrepreneurship at 成人头条 has announced the next cohort of the LaunchPrep entrepreneurial program. Six early-stage start-ups were selected and began their first session of training in the last week of February.
The startup鈥檚 founders will continue to attend training sessions and meet with their mentors to examine their business strategies and create plans for growth and expansion during the next few months, culminating in a Demo Day on May 22.
The LaunchPrep program is a collaboration between the e2e Accelerator Inc. and the Center for Entrepreneurship at 成人头条 that matches participants with local business mentors designed to help each set the stage for future growth.

Providing a safe and secure environment for the WSU community continues to be a top
priority. Campus Safety-Active Threat Incident Planning is a live training initiative
to enhance WSU鈥檚 proactive approach to ensure a safe campus environment and to prepare
our faculty, staff and students in case of an incident of campus violence. It will
focus on two areas: 1) what to do in an active campus threat incident, and 2) how
to identify and report behaviors of concern.

Housing and Residence Life will offer hard hat tours of 成人头条 State鈥檚 newest residence hall, The Suites at WSU, beginning Monday, March 18. Tours will be about 20 minutes long and will be offered every day, Monday through Friday, from 3:30-5 p.m. Tours will start and end at the front desk in The Flats Apartments. WSU graduate students attend statewide 16th Capitol Graduate Research Summit (CGRS)
On Feb. 26, nine WSU graduate students drove to Topeka to participate in the annual statewide KBOR Capitol Graduate Research Summit (CGRS) event at the Capitol. Brien Bolin, associate dean, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and Kerry Wilks, interim dean of the Graduate School, participated. The event featured research conducted by graduate students at all Kansas Board of Regents graduate public universities.
Selected in a competitive application process by the CGRS committee, the students showcased research and projects relevant to the state of Kansas and of potential interest to state legislators. A multi-month commitment, the Graduate School congratulates all participants and the winners!

WSU presents 鈥淭he Theory of Relativity," the musical
成人头条鈥檚 School of Performing Arts will present 鈥淭he Theory of Relativity鈥, the musical (rated PG). The musical will take place 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21 to Saturday, March 23 and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in Wilner Auditorium.
鈥淭he Theory of Relativity鈥 is a song cycle written in 2016 by the Drama Desk Award-nominated team Neil Bartram and Brian Hill. It is a musical written for and about college-age youth and is sure to offer audiences a new perspective on the millennial generation and the idea of infinite uncertainty combined with the logical certainty of mathematics and physics. It is an emotional and highly accessible show that examines love, friendship, parental expectations, personal aspirations and human connection.
The cast of the musical features 13 musical theatre majors (Ariel Glorsky, Natalie Carrera, Ari Chandler, Grace Roush, Courtney Wages, Katriana Kisner, Jackson Dorris, Nora Dooley, Philip Hanson, Jacob Kramer, Trevor Seyl, William Day and Lucas Lowry).
Along with the cast, the musical features a variety of talent from the design team, including Associate Professors David Neville (lighting design) and Ed Baker (set design and technical direction); and student design and technical theatre majors include Erin Mittman (stage manager), Sydney Jordan (sound design), Ali Miro (asst. lighting designer), Emily Evans (costume coordinator) and Wesley Sweigart (props).
Tickets are $20, $18 and $10. WSU students receive one free ticket with WSU student ID.

Research workshop: 鈥榃riting Proposals鈥
A research workshop, 鈥淲riting Proposals,鈥 will be held from noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, in 405 Jardine Hall. The workshop will be presented by Fran Cook and Megan White.
This workshop will provide grant-writing tips and resources to use. Funders and their reviewers want proposals that are clear, concise and consistent. Come to this workshop to learn some hands-on approaches to improving your grant-writing skills.
Fran Cook, CRA, training manager for the WSU Office of Research, will present helpful strategies for responding to a variety of funders and funding opportunities.

Seeking participants for a paid study investigating effects of computer monitor resolution on user performance / experience
Computer users, 18 or older, are sought to participate in a research study investigating the effects of computer monitor resolution on user performance and experience. Do you digitally create / edit illustrations, photos, textures or animation?
The study will take place in McKinley Hall, and last about 90 minutes. Participants will earn $25 or six SONA credits if enrolled in a WSU psychology course.
