WSU announces compensatory time changes

Please read more about the changes for non-exempt (hourly) employees. Changes regarding compensatory time for exempt employees will be communicated in the coming weeks.

Some campus buildings won鈥檛 have cooling starting this afternoon (Thursday, June 13)

Repairs to the chilled water lines on the west side of campus will begin today (Thursday, June 13). The steam to the west side of campus is currently down due to the chilled water leaks.

The chilled water to the west side of campus will be shut down around 2 p.m. today (Thursday, June 13), and the chilled water should be running again by Monday, June 17.

We hope to have the steam to the west side of campus back on shortly thereafter.

A list of buildings that will be affected by the chilled water outage and no cooling capabilities are available below.

Progress continues at YMCA and Student Wellness Center construction site; Provines to get new title

YMCA progress summer 2019

Representatives from Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) and Student Health Services (SHS) toured the Student Wellness Center construction site recently. The Student Wellness Center, located in the space adjacent to the YMCA fitness facilities, will house both departments. The center will provide students a single destination for their physical and mental health needs. Interim President Andy Tompkins, Vice President for Student Affairs Teri Hall and Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Aaron Austin also toured the new facilities.

The plan is to move into the new Student Wellness Center during the winter holiday break and be open for business at the start of the 2020 spring semester.

During the tour, Hall announced that Jessica Provines will be the new Assistant Vice President, Student Affairs, Wellness, starting with FY2020. Provines will retain director duties for CAPS and will have the SHS and Campus Rec departments reporting to her. These changes support the continued collaboration and focus on student well-being from a more holistic perspective. 


Join the WSU Military and Veteran Center celebration

Military and Veteran Center celebration June 14, 2019

The Military and Veteran Center will hold a celebration for the U.S. Army鈥檚 244th birthday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, June 14), in 105 Grace Wilkie Hall. The event will include cake, punch, Army giveaways and drawings for movie tickets. Stop in and join the celebration. You do not have to be present to win the drawings.


Retirement celebration for Wanda Holt today (Thursday, June 13)

Join Counseling and Prevention Services for the celebration of Wanda Holt's retirement, 3-5 p.m. today (Thursday, June 13), at Shocker Grill and Lanes in the basement of the RSC.

Wanda has served the WSU community for 33 years across multiple offices, spending the past 13 years with Counseling and Prevention Services - formerly the Counseling and Testing Center.

Her time included a stint on the Classified Senate, where she served as president helping to transition the university from USS to UP employment. She also completed her bachelor鈥檚 degree while employed at the university earning an award for highest GPA in criminal justice. Help us show our appreciation for her outstanding service by joining us for refreshments and karaoke, and wish Wanda luck in her future endeavors.


Work to begin June 17 on new shuttle stop shelter

Shuttle stop relocation summer 2019

Beginning Monday, June 17 and extending through Friday, Aug. 9, Bauer Construction will perform work at two locations along Perimeter Road.  

They will begin by installing a new shuttle stop shelter across the street from, and just north of, the Food Truck Plaza.

Subsequently, they will relocate the shuttle stop shelter on the west side of lot 15 to the west side of Perimeter just north of the WSU Police Department Building. Refer to the map above for reference. Throughout the course of the work, periodic sidewalk and lane closures may ensue.


Celebrate Juneteenth ICT with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion

Join the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) as they celebrate Juneteenth ICT. Come out for the service project between 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, June 14. This year鈥檚 project is painting the Antoine Carr basketball court at McAdam鈥檚 Park.

Do not miss out on this year鈥檚 parade. Join the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and ODI for the Juneteenth ICT parade on Saturday, June 22. We encourage your departments to come out in Shocker gear and walk alongside the WSU van.

Purchase your Juneteenth ICT armbands from ODI, located in 208 Rhatigan Student Center. Armbands are $5 for ages 8 and up, and $3 for ages 7 and under. The armbands serve as an entry into the parade and the week of amazing events. Learn more about Juneteenth ICT and the .

Did you know that 成人头条 has a set of Service Standards? These standards are known as Shocker PROUD: Professional, Responsive, Open, Understanding, and Dependable.

A training session 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, in 142 RSC will explore the standards in more detail and ensure that all of us are providing excellent service to everyone we encounter.

WSU Foundation end of fiscal year schedule

Requisitions

In order for the WSU Foundation to meet your deadline of making the deposit to reimburse WSU accounts on Monday, June 24, requisitions are due at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 19. These checks will be released on Friday, June 21. Any check needs after June 21 are due at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, for the check run Thursday, June 27.

The WSU Foundation does not encumber funds, and we cannot write any checks for fiscal year 2019 after Friday June 28.

Spirit Squad to host pickleball tournament and silent auction

Spirit Squad Pickleball Tournament

The 成人头条 State Spirit Squad will host an inaugural fundraising event from 9 a.m.-noon Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Chicken N Pickle at 13th and Greenwich.

The silent auction will include items from local businesses and WSU sports-themed baskets. Teams of two will also have the chance to play in a competitive or recreational pickleball bracket for bragging rights as the first Shocker Pickleball Champions.

This is a family-friendly event open to all ages.
