Announcing New Leader Orientation at WSU!
Human Resources has launched New Leader Orientation (NLO) at ͷ! Similar to New Employee Orientation, which began in January 2017, this program is designed to orient new leaders (individuals with direct reports) to the university, or those new to a leader position within the university, to what they need to know about WSU in order to successfully lead people here.
New leaders will learn about tools and resources available to them and how to access them. This program is designed to introduce them to high impact areas within the University and learn about what is going on. Additionally, they will network with other new leaders and have opportunities to discuss similar questions or issues.
NLO is conducted in cohort style over a three-month period, and is constructed in module format. The orientation is comprised of 28 hours of in-class instruction (one full day and five ½ days). All new leaders will receive an Outlook invitation during the first few months in their new role with a full agenda and detailed information. Managers of new leaders will also receive communication if they have a direct report that will be attending NLO.
What about existing leaders at WSU? In order to ensure all existing leaders have the opportunity for comparable training, they will have the option to register in myTraining for open training courses featured in NLO.
The myTraining courses are open to all current WSU employees (faculty and staff) and are scheduled to occur throughout the year. The myTraining link is available through the faculty/staff tab in myWSU. For more information, go to wichita.edu/NLO.
