The College of Applied Studies (CAS) at 成人头条 is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Mike Ross as the new Associate Dean for Faculty & Staff Affairs. Dr. Ross will assume his new role on June 23, 2025, following a competitive search process.
鈥淒r. Ross has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student-centered and mission-driven leadership throughout his 25-year tenure with the WSU-CAS community. His extensive experience and collaborative spirit will undoubtedly enhance our college鈥檚 efforts to advance education and community engagement,鈥 said Dr. Jennifer Friend, Dean of the College of Applied Studies.
Dr. Ross鈥檚 journey at 成人头条 State began as a first-generation undergraduate and graduate student. Over the years, he has served in various roles, including as a staff member in WSU Athletics, CAS lecturer, non-tenure-track faculty member, and assistant professor.
Leadership and Collaboration
Dr. Ross has a proven track record of leadership and collaboration, including:
- Mentorship and Service: Serving as a Corbin Connect Fellow, participating in the CAS Faculty Mentoring Program, and contributing to the Faculty Senate, CAS Leadership Team, and President鈥檚 Budget Advisory Committee.
- Community Engagement: Collaborating with LEAD 成人头条, advising local school district career and technical education pathways, and leading communication efforts for seven NCAA Division I Basketball tournaments, impacting local communities and fostering partnerships.
- Technical Expertise and Excellence: Receiving numerous awards for teaching excellence, technology innovation, online learning, and faculty service, and providing oversight for systems such as Courseleaf and multiple budget management platforms.
Dr. Friend added, 鈥淒r. Ross鈥檚 expertise in fostering collaboration, advancing professional development, and contributing to strategic initiatives will position the college for continued success.鈥
The College also extends its gratitude to Dr. Clay Stoldt for his many years of leadership and service as Associate Dean and Interim Dean. Dr. Stoldt will work closely with Dr. Ross to ensure a smooth transition before returning full-time to his role as Professor in Sport and Leadership Studies.
The College of Applied Studies thanks the search committee, chaired by Dr. Jennifer Friend, for their diligent work in selecting the best candidate for this important leadership position.
