WSU esports during competition

Overwatch: ECAC Division A Champions

Shocker Overwatch dominated ECAC, finishing 5-1 in the regular season and claiming the Division A Championship with a win over the College of Staten Island. They also went 5-1 in NACE, earning a #16 seed at nationals before falling to Illinois State. Senior captain Thomas Fleming and freshman Anderson Tran led the team to its first ECAC title.

Varsity Valorant: National Qualifiers & ECAC Finalists

Shocker Valorant finished 3rd in NACE (4-2) and won two tough qualifiers to secure the final spot at NACE Nationals (#16 seed), where they fell to St. Clair College. In ECAC鈥檚 elite Titans division, they reached the championship match, ultimately finishing second to Columbia College. McKaleb Unruh and Hieu Le stood out as key contributors.

JV Valorant: Playoff Success

JV Valorant finished 6-1 in NACE, earning a first-round playoff bye, and 3-3 in ECAC Division B, where they advanced to the quarterfinals. Captain Mason Stone, Osiel Chavez-Hernandez, and Vinh Bui played crucial roles in the team's growth.

Rocket League Varsity: Historic CRL Performance

Shocker Rocket League secured a runner-up finish in CCS AAC, a 5-2 ECAC record, and their best-ever CRL placements (Top 32 in Qualifiers 2 & 4). Freshman captain Mason Rhoads emerged as a key leader.

Rocket League JV: Varsity+ Champions

The undefeated (7-0) JV squad captured WSU鈥檚 first Varsity+ NACE title, defeating UCM in the finals. They also qualified for ECAC playoffs (6-1) and reached the Top 48 in CRL qualifiers. Captain Spencer Russell and Tayler Shega played pivotal roles.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: ECAC Champions & Nationals Success

SSBU Varsity won the ECAC Titans Championship and finished T-5 at NACE Nationals after defeating Full Sail but falling to Lubbock Christian. Captain Japheth Briney, John Navarro, and newcomers Azael Renova and Justin Schierbaum were standout players.

Smash JV: Program鈥檚 Best Season

Shocker Smash JV recorded its best-ever NACE (5-1) and ECAC Division B (7-0) seasons, finishing 2nd in NACE and 4th in ECAC. Captain Jayce Lamb, Aiden Heckard, and Cecilia Martinez led the charge.

Call of Duty: Strong Fall, Eyes on Spring

Shocker COD finished 5-2 in ECAC before falling to Fisher College in the Grand Finals. Tyler Wilson and captain John Bruno were key contributors as the team transitions to Black Ops 3 for the spring. The JV squad, still developing, looks to improve in 2025.
