Last Day to Apply for the Battin-Lester Corporate Responsibility Fellowships!

The Battin-Lester Corporate Responsibility Fellowships provide funding for students to engage in research and writing about corporate responsibility. Students present their research to a panel of community members during the university's annual Constitution Day celebration.

Don't Forget to Enroll in Classes on Monday

Honors students can register for Summer 2021 and Fall 2021 courses beginning at 7 a.m. on April 5.

NOTE: Fine Arts & Engineering students who have not met with an advisor will not be able to register. Please make an appointment as soon as possible, if you haven't already completed one.

How to find the Honors courses that will be offered in Fall 2021
Log into your myWSU account. Click on the myClasses tab. Find the yellow box titled Registration Tools on the right side. In that box, click on Student Registration (Banner 9). On the right side, click on Browse Class Schedule by Term. Select Fall 2021. Click the continue button. Find the search criteria titled Attribute (Gen Ed, SI, etc.). Type in Honors and select Honors Program Course. Click the search button.


Attend the Honors College Faculty Council Events

The Honors College Faculty Council invites the campus community to two virtual events to learn more about faculty work in the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College.

Departmental Honors Tracks Panel Discussion on Tuesday, April 6, from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.

Learn from faculty and department chairs about new and existing Departmental Honors Tracks. Hear about successes and challenges. Share questions and ideas.  for the Zoom link.

Honors Faculty Fellows Presentation & Discussion on Thursday, May 13, from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.

This year鈥檚 Honors Faculty Fellows will present updates on their projects. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and suggest ideas for future faculty fellows.  for the Zoom link.

One Week Left to Apply to be an Honors Ambassador

Honors Ambassadors assist the Honors College in the recruitment of future Honors students. Honors Ambassadors represent the Honors College at various events and activities across campus. They help the Honors College in a variety of ways including but not limited to:

  • Mingling with students and parents at programs
  • Serving on student panels
  • Attending events hosted by the Honors College
  • Hosting information tables
  • Providing their perspective on WSU and the Honors College

Being an Honors Ambassador comes with many benefits, including developing leadership skills and networking with students, faculty, and staff.

Get Excited for the Honors General Assembly, SGA Meet & Greet, and Cookout!

Founding student members of the Honors College included the annual Honors General Assembly in the bylaws to ensure that students and faculty had at least one open forum for information and feedback each year.

This year, we invite the Honors community to meet and eat together on Thursday, April 22, from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. on the Shocker Hall East Patio! The event will begin with college updates from the Dean, as well as, a meet and greet with the Honors Senators in the Student Government Association. Afterwards, pre-packaged food will be served.

to RSVP yes or no for this event so we have an accurate count for the food order. The RSVP deadline is April 16.

At the event, aim to keep each other safe through practicing social distancing and wearing masks when not eating or drinking.


Serve on the Cohen Honors College Student Council Next Year

The Cohen Honors College Student Council aims to develop a strong sense of community and common identity among Honors students by providing opportunities and serving as a refuge. The Council uses innovative approaches to identify and address the challenges and needs of all Honors students. It serves as the voice of students through communication with the staff, faculty, and Dean of the Cohen Honors College. The Council activities change every year, but its mission stays the same. For information about current Council members, click here. The Student Council typically meets every Thursday 5 - 6 p.m. by Zoom and meets at least twice a year with the Faculty Council. To bring an idea or concern to the current Council, feel free to email honorsassistant@wichita.edu.

Participate in an Honors College Research Study

This qualitative case study design has the goal of understanding the perceptions of the Honors College regarding diversity and inclusion, student involvement, and overall student well-being. Participants must be 18+ and must also be a member of the Dorothy & Bill Cohen Honors College.

Procedure: Students complete a questionnaire with 10-15 questions targeting areas of diversity and inclusion, student involvement, and overall student well-being. .
