hhHonors Hour is This Morning!

ALL students (NOT just Honors students) are invited to attend TODAY at 11 a.m.

Every student who attends will be entered into a prize drawing! One winner will be randomly selected at the end. Plus, Honors students will earn points for their Honors House.

Participate in MULTIBUBBLE This Evening!

成人头条 State's ShiftSpace Gallery invites students and community members to build an inflatable bubble using simple materials and step-by-step instructions provided by guest artist Kylie Brown. MULTIBUBBLE will light up downtown TODAY from 6 - 9 p.m. It will be outside Groover Labs located at 334 St. Francis Ave. It's part of Get Lit: A Night of Light, a First Friday event in collaboration with 成人头条 Festivals, Inc.

The first 20 students to register will receive a free "bubble kit" containing all materials needed to build their bubble.

Apply for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Funding by next Wednesday

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Grants Program is now accepting applications for grants of up to $1,000 for undergraduate students pursuing research or creative projects.

Students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a GPA of at least 2.5 and at least two semesters remaining at WSU (including the semester in which you apply), are full-time, and have a faculty research mentor are eligible. Preference is given to projects not otherwise funded and previous awardees are not eligible.

Graduating with an Honors Distinction this Fall? Congratulations!

There are several steps you need to take to prepare for graduation and commencement:

  • Fill out your Application for Degree (AFD) within your MyWSU Portal.

  • to buy an Honors stole at the bookstore or if you are a University Honors minor or HB grad, pick up a medallion from the Honors office.

  • If you have any questions about your Honors graduation status, please contact your Honors academic advisor.

  • Click here to complete the 2020-21 Honors graduate yearbook form.

  • You will receive a Cohen Honors Graduate Survey. Please complete the survey to help us improve!

WHEAT Food Drive Recap

Last month, WHEAT hosted a food drive for the Shocker Support Locker and ICT Fridge to help support our community. Students donated many items, and Dean Engber matched these donations and made a cash donation! Thank you all for your generosity.

The WHEAT Halloween Party was a Success!

WHEAT hosted its annual Halloween party, where students painted mason jars, played Jeopardy, and went on a scavenger hunt! The Jeopardy winners were Darbee Chard, Madeline Lodge, and Olivia Gallegos! There was also a costume contest, and the winners were Metal Man by Madeline Lodge for Most Innovative and Ketchup by Alyssa Peppers for Funniest.

The National Collegiate Honors Council is wrapping up its virtual 55th Annual Conference as a reimagined virtual experience bringing together students, faculty and staff from across the country. This year鈥檚 theme 鈥淏ig Hearts, Big Minds鈥 asks questions about the role of compassion and empathy in the academy with the goals of enacting equity and inclusivity in our programs, courses, and institutions. Dr. Chelsea Redger-Marquardt presented a session entitled 鈥淓xpanded Horizons: Preparing to Serve through an Honors Course and Immersive Service-Learning Trip鈥 as part of this year鈥檚 conference. The session discussed qualitative research related to student sensemaking in service-learning through an honors course related to diversity learning and understanding dominant narratives. The Annual Conference takes place each Fall semester and offers opportunities to share research and best practices through presentations, poster sessions, roundtables and keynote speakers. Congrats to all the scholars around the country contributing knowledge and insights at this year鈥檚 conference.


Camp War Eagle is Looking for Camp Counselors for Summer 2021!

Camp War Eagle is a Christian sports and adventure camp for children and teens ages 7-17 in Northwest Arkansas. Its primary mission is to serve kids with socially, economically, and culturally diverse backgrounds in our area, with a special focus on kids from underserved backgrounds.

Camp War Eagle will be on campus November 9-11 recruiting potential staff members who love kids and really want to make a difference in a child鈥檚 life during the summer, while getting paid at the same time. It is located on Beaver Lake in Rogers, AR, about 4 1/2 hours from 成人头条. Camp War Eagle hires around 25 成人头条 staff each summer and would love more students from the Honors College. You could receive hours towards an internship, if that is something needed for your major!

Storytime Village is Searching for Volunteers

Storytime Village is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire a lifelong love of reading in underserved Kansas children from birth to age 8. It is currently searching for volunteers who would be able to help sort through their donated books. This will be a socially distanced volunteer opportunity and masks are required. There will be time slots available each Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Storytime Village's office is conveniently located near campus. Those who volunteer will also be put on the list for future volunteer opportunities, such as story times, book distributions, and more!
