Senior: Sommer averaged 203 over 43 games as he competed in every event for the Shockers. He earned two All-Tournament team honors, finishing third at the SWIBC VI and fifth at the SWIBC III. At the end of the season, he was again recognized as an NCBCA Scholar Athlete Award recipient. He also was part of the national championship runner-up team at the Intercollegiate Team Championships.
Junior: In the shortened season, Sommer competed in five events. He averaged 216 for 22 games and made the All-Tournament Team at the SWIBC III event, finishing second. Sommer ended the season as the three-spot in the national championship match and helped the Shockers bring home the title at the Intercollegiate Team Championships. He earned NCBCA All American Second Team honors as well as IBMA Bowler of the Year Runner Up honors. He was also recognized as an NCBCA Scholar Athlete Award winner.
Sophomore: Sommer鈥檚 sophomore season saw him compete in seven events and averaged 210 over 20 games. Sommer again ended the season as a recipient of the NCBCA Scholar Athlete Award.
Freshman: Sommer competed in four events for the Shockers his freshman year. He averaged 184 over 19 games. He ended the year as an NCBCA Scholar Athlete Award recipient.
Personal: Sommer is the son of Donna and Brad Sommer. He has two siblings, a brother named Jacob and a sister named Abbey. Sommer comes from a long history of bowling, his grandfather owned the women鈥檚 professional tour until 2003 and his family owns a handful of bowling centers in the Rockford area. Sommer had an impressive high school bowling career at Hononegah Community High School prior to coming to 成人头条 State. He took home the team and singles in 2018 and holds the record for average at 252.
